Team

Julio Cardenal is a senior partner at Landmark Alantra and was also a founding partner of IB Partners, Landmark´s preceding company. Previously, he was UBS/Swiss Bank´s representative in Chile and head of its investment banking division S.G. Warburg for Chile, Peru and Bolivia.

Julio has extensive experience in M&A transactions in Chile, Latin America, the United States and Europe. Some of the transactions in which he has worked include advising BCI on the acquisition of City National Bank in Miami, the sale of 60% of Ferreterías Imperial to Sodimac, the sale of 51% of Centrovet to the leading French animal health company Virbac, the sale of Portalinmobiliario to Mercado Libre, the acquisition of pharmacy chain SalcoBrand by Empresas Juan Yarur, the acquisition of a significant equity stake in Soquimich by PotashCorp, the sale of Forum Servicios Financieros to BBVA and the sale of Banco Granahorrar acting as advisor to the Colombian Government.

He has been a board member of SalcoBrand, Industrias Ceresita, Ferreterías Imperial and Soquimich representing PotashCorp. He is an Aeronautical Engineer from Imperial College (University of London) and has an MBA from IESE (Universidad de Navarra).

Pablo Larraín is a founding partner at Landmark Alantra. Pablo has more than 20 years of experience in investment banking. Previously he was a partner at IB Partners for 10 years and prior to that he was the Development Director for Endesa in Brazil.

Pablo has led numerous successful M&A transactions and restructurings in diverse sectors. He holds a B.A. in Economics from Universidad de Chile and a Masters in Finance from the London Business School.

Hernán Sambucetti is a partner at Landmark Alantra and the Country Head for Argentina. Prior to Landmark Alantra, he was a principal at IB Partners and a Vice President at UBS Financial Institutions Group.

Hernán has extensive experience in corporate finance, advising in various transactions in Latin America, including the purchase of Aseguradora Hidalgo, Mexico's largest life insurer, by MetLife; the acquisition of Banco Conosur on behalf of Bci, the sale of Banco Granahorrar in Colombia to BBVA, the sale of Consolidar Salud (BBVA) to Grupo Omint in Argentina, the sale of Argentine agribusiness company Fondomonte to the Saudi group Almarai, and the sale of Argentine animal health company Biotay to Phibro Animal Health.

He holds a B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering from ITBA and an MBA from the Stern School of Business (NYU).

Gianni Casanova is a partner at Landmark Alantra. Prior to Landmark, he was a principal at IB Partners and the Corporate Development Manager for ITC Ventures, a technology private equity fund.

He has ample experience in corporate finance and has advised in numerous transactions, including the sale of agricultural assets on behalf of Clean Energy Brazil plc (AIM listed company) to Tonon Bioenergía, the acquisition of Quesada Farmacéutica on behalf of Eurofarma Laboratorios and the strategic alliance of Bradesco with Banco de Chile for the management and distribution of mutual funds in Chile and Brazil, including the Verde Amarelo (US$160 million) and Brasil Inversión (US$ 80 million) mutual funds.

Gianni holds a B.Sc. degree in International Finance and Economics from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California.

Guillermo Arnaiz is a partner at Landmark Alantra. He has extensive experience in corporate finance and M&A.

Guillermo has worked on transactions in the industrial, agri-business, education and pharmaceutical sectors, including the merger of Pinturas Sipa and Industrias Ceresita, the merger of Salcobrand and Pre Unic, the sale of Versachem Chile to the multinational company Illinois Tool Works, the sale of Central Frenos to Emasa and the sale of an equity stake in leading fruit exporter Copefrut. Prior to Landmark Alantra, Guillermo worked in the Corporate Finance division of KPMG Argentina, in the High Yield and Origination group at BNP Paribas New York and at Duff & Phelps.

He holds a B.A. degree in Economics from the University of Buenos Aires and an MBA from the Stern School of Business at New York University.

Carlos Fuenzalida is a partner at Landmark Alantra and has broad experience in corporate finance and M&A.

Carlos has worked on transactions in different sectors, including the sale of 100% of TOC Biometrics to Sovos, the sale of San Francisco Loncomilla to Empresas Carozzi, the sale of Sinacofi Buró to Experian, the acquisition of City National Bank of Florida by Banco de Crédito e Inversiones 'Bci', the sale of Chilean salmon farming companies Invermar, Acuinova and Nova Austral to Alimar, Marine Harvest Group and Ewos Group, respectively; the merger of the pharmacy chain Salcobrand with the retailer PreUnic, and the sale of the leading Chilean laboratory of veterinary vaccines and pharmaceuticals, Centrovet, to the French animal health company Virbac.

Prior to Landmark Alantra, Carlos worked at the Corporate Finance division of Econsult. Carlos is fluent in English and Spanish. He holds a degree in Business Administration from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.

Matías Lahusen is a partner at Landmark Alantra with experience in corporate finance and capital markets in Latin America. Prior to joining Landmark Alantra, he worked as an Analyst at the Investment Banking division of Raymond James Argentina.

Matías has worked on several deals closed in the energy, agribusiness, media, real estate and financial services industries, including a US$ 84 million block trade of YPF shares in BASE, the acquisition of 51% stake of Chilean temporary staffing company Grupo Expro by the Japanese holding group Outsourcing, the sale of Argentine animal health company Biotay to Phibro Animal Health Corporation, the sale of 54.07% of Chilean salmon company Invermar to Alimentos Marinos, and the sale of the regional DTH satellite TV company Tu Ves to Intercable, a cable operator controlled by Hicks Muse.

Matías holds an Economics degree from the Universidad de San Andrés and is fluent in English, German and Spanish.

Mauricio Gómez is a director at Landmark Alantra with over 10 years of experience in financial advisory. Prior to joining Landmark Alantra, Mauricio served as Vice President at Lazard, covering Colombia, Central America and the Caribbean regions, advising multiple clients across the financial services, technology and consumer spaces. Mauricio originally joined Landmark in 2015, supporting the firm’s efforts in the consolidation of the Colombian office.

Among others, Mauricio advised MasPlay in the acquisition of Nike’s business in Chile, Grupo Mercantil in the acquisition of a controlling stake in Capital Bank in Panamá, Grupo Bolivar in connection with its share repurchase program, and Weener Plastics Group in the acquisition of Proenfar.

Mauricio is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), holds a Masters in Finance Degree from Esade Business School, and dual undergraduate degrees from the Universidad de los Andes in Computer Science and Industrial Engineering.

Camilo Montenegro is a Vice President at Landmark Alantra and has experience in corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions in Latin America.

Camilo has been part of teams in various transactions, including the sale of a majority stake on Punto Ticket to the Joint Venture formed by CTS Eventim and Sony Music, the sale of 100% of BBR shares to Evertec, the sale of 100% of Babytuto shares to Walmart, and the sale of 100% of Tiaxa shares to Bemobi.

Prior to Landmark Alantra, Camilo worked at  Deloitte Corporate Finance participating in M&A and Debt transactions.

Camilo holds a Business Administration degree with a Master in Finance from Adolfo Ibáñez University.
