Landmark Alantra acted as financial advisor to SONDA (SNSE:SONDA), Inder (José Luis del Río Goudie’s family office) and Etcheberry Asesoría y Negocios in the agreement for the sale of 100% of Klap, payment acquiring company, to Banco Itaú Chile (SNSE:ITAUCL), subsidiary of Itaú Unibanco (BOVESPA:ITUB4), the main banking group in Latin America. The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals for closing.
Klap is a leading payment acquiring and electronic payment platform in Chile, processing +80 million monthly transactions and with +30,000 point of sale. The company is the main non-banking payment acquirer in Chile, providing services of payment processing, infrastructure solutions for digital transactions and a broad offering of multiservices for merchants across Chile.
The acquisition strengthens Banco Itaú Chile’s strategy in the payment ecosystem, expanding its value proposition for merchants, SMEs and corporate clients by integrating issuing and acquiring capabilities in order to move towards a comprehensive integral ecosystem of payment methods, transactional services and financing solutions. For SONDA, this divestment is a key step in focusing the company’s portfolio by industry and the efficient allocation of resources.
